Country Haven is just that-your country stay in beautiful South Haven. A remodeled 100+ yr old farmhouse on over an acre lot (tons of parking), DOG FRIENDLY, private back yard with old mature trees and firepit, 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, with a garage turned game room, located close to restaurants, KalHaven Trail, Lake Arvesta, and Lake Michigan!  NOTE: We do have a ring camera/light, records upon motion detection, on the parking area / side door only.

Oh and rent a super fun beach buggy and drive from the house to the beach!

Inside The House (Dog Friendly Max 2 NO PET FEES)

The house has 6 bedrooms (4 bedrooms with 2 queens and 4 twins upstairs and 2 bedrooms with 2 queens on the main floor- various levels of plushness with each bed Helix/Lull/Casper/Helix Twilight….) allowing for 12 guests to sleep easily. There is room for additional guests should you want to bring an air mattress, up to 14 guests total.  

There are also 3 full bathrooms (one upstairs with a shower, main floor has full shower and 2nd bathroom on the main floor has a full shower and a jacuzzi garden tub).  

Luxury LVP throughout the entire home.  

Fully remodeled kitchen with a large island and large bar that seats 12. Stainless steel brand new appliances with a stocked kitchen including a Keurig (carafe and single), drop coffee maker, toaster, blender, pots/pans….. As well as kids plastic dishes and even sip cup toppers! Mudroom has a 2nd full size refrigerator for your beach beverages!  

2 full size reclining couches in the living room with a 70 inch Roku TV and BlueTooth JBL Sound Bar. Front "kids" room has a 50inch Roku TV with a throw back Nintendo system, as well as a variety of board games and card games. Available throughout the home is high speed internet from Xfinity (500mbps).  

Natural gas fireplace for a cozy atmosphere.  

Mudroom has two full size washers and dryers!  

Additionally for your comfort, the home has 2 furnaces and 2 central air units for your upper level and lower level temperature zones!

Outside The House:

The property has over an acre of very mature trees and plants, allowing for tons of parking for cars/trailers/boat trailers/snowmobiles…. Seating area on the back deck with a propane and charcoal grill. There is an old sunken greenhouse turned sitting area and the garage has been turned into a game room, with a magnetic dart board, ping pong table and a variety of outdoor games such as cornhole, soft boccee ball, velcro catch, yard dice game, slammo/spike ball, ladder ball…. Also available are a variety of beach games, toys, mats, and chairs! Enjoy our firepit with the ability to have your wood stocked for you below market value!  Come in the winter and snowmobile the KalHaven Trail and have a garage to keep your snowmobiles in! 

Close to beaches, shopping, wineries, HawksHead Golf Course, Lake Arvesta, Lake Michigan, Black River......!

Provided:

Bed and Bath Linens, Toilet Paper, Hand Soap, Dish Soap, Dishwasher Pods, 1 Roll of Paper Towel, Starter Pack of KCups, Hair Dryer, Propane for the Grill

You will need to provide beach towels, paper plates, charcoal, food.... and such if so desired.

Contact us today with your dates of choice, minimum 2 night booking. Once your booking is accepted, you will need to provide a copy of your drivers license via email and will need to sign an electronic rental agreement (as see below). We accept payment via Venmo/Cash App/Paypal.

 

Rental Contract

What you need to know about your stay…

Check-in/Out:   

Check in is at 4:00 pm. Check out is at 11:00 am. Please be advised you need to be strict on checkout times. If you are over 30 minutes late, on your checkout time, you will be charged $50.00 per hour, unless other arrangements have made in writing.

Security Deposit:

We require a $200.00 security deposit to help protect the property and items located within the property. Upon check out we will inventory the property and condition, if acceptable, you will be refunded either all or part of your security deposit within 7 business days. If the premises appear dirty or damaged upon Check-in, you shall inform us immediately. Please help keep the property and its furnishings in good order, and only use appliances for their intended purposes.

Cleaning:

We want this to be your home away from home but do appreciate that we have so many great renters that take excellent care of the property. We ask that you make sure all the dishes are cleaned, or, at least, being cleaned, in the dishwasher. Counters should be wiped off and clean of any debris. Please strip the beds that have been used, so that we can clean them and all dirty towels are to be placed in the mudroom. We will sanitize and clean the whole house and wash all of the bedding and towels. If for some reason things are not left in this order, or if you do not follow the move-out checklist, you could be charged a fee of up to $200.00 from your security deposit.

Pets:

Dogs are allowed with prior approval. Please utilize the doggie gear in the bins in the mudroom that has dog blankets, throws, etc. for use on any furniture, as well as doggie bags for their DOO-DOO! Please pick up after your dog! You can throw all bagged waste in the trash can at the road. If you do not pick up your pet waste, you will be charged a fee. We also ask that any dogs NOT be in the one room with the new carpet. IF you must leave your dog in the home unaccompanied, please crate in the mudroom. Thank you! 

Smoking:

No Smoking Inside! No exceptions. If you or anyone in your party is caught smoking in the house, you will be required to leave without compensation for nights lost and will lose your security deposit. Additionally, no marijuana is permitted inside the house – if it is found, you will be charged an extra cleaning fee and rental fee for ozonator if needed to remove the smell. You can smoke outside, but there must be no trace or you will be responsible for the extra cleaning fees.

Neighbors and Guests:

Please respect all fellow neighbors and guests that might be around. We want you to have fun and enjoy your stay but please refrain from vulgarity and being loud after 10:00 pm.  

Number of People:

There are no more than fourteen people allowed at the cottage due to the size of the cottage, the number of beds, and septic. If there are more than fourteen people, you will be required to leave immediately and will lose any paid rent and security deposit.

Backyard Games/Beach Toys:

To help protect the woods and natural setting you are not allowed to discharge any fireworks or guns. The garage has a collection of yard games and beach toys for your use, please if you take them from the garage, we just ask that you put them back. We also recommend you bring beach towels as we do not permit towels to be removed from the house.

Firepit:

The firepit in the backyard should NEVER be left unattended when in use. Please ensure that you are in control of your fire at all times. Please do not SIT on the rocks or prop your feet on the rocks for your safety. Do not put anything in the fire pit besides wood to burn. 

Natural Gas Fireplace:

The natural gas fireplace emits a LOT of heat! Please be careful with children around as it can get hot to the touch. Please make sure it is turned off when you leave the home and when you are go to bed for the night!

Water/Septic:

This cottage is on a well and septic system. The mineral content is high and at times may emit an odor. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog if improper material is flushed. Please DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at any time. If this occurs and a clog results, you could be charged for damages.

Liability:

This home is privately owned, and we are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. We are not responsible for the loss of your personal belongings or valuables. 

Contract Terms/Cancellation:

We have a strict no refund cancellation policy.

Payment:

When we receive your contract along with a payment, we will hold your reservation. 

Have Fun:

Most importantly have fun! Enjoy the times with family and friends. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you during your stay. If you have any special requests, we will do our best to accommodate you or set something up for you during your stay.

Check Out/Check List

We ask that you follow these simple steps at checkout.

 No Smoking Inside, if you smoked outside, please pick up any evidence

 Clean up after your dog inside and outside 

 Put all used towels & sheets from the beds that were used in the mudroom            

 Remove trash from all waste bins inside – place all the trash in the bin by the road            

 Put all used dishes in the dishwasher, and please run                

 Empty the fridge/freezer/cupboards of whatever you brought (there may be some condiments and items in the fridge/spices in the cupboards upon check-in, feel free to use!)

 Wipe down counters and appliances used (stove top, toaster…)
 Each night, clean up around the fire pit making sure all fires are put out, put down all umbrellas, and pick up any garbage

 Please put any yard games/beach games away in the garage

 Please clean the grill after each use

 Please leave the thermostat at 50 in the winter and 70 in the summer upon checkout

We appreciate your help in these areas. If there is a problem with any item, please contact the owners immediately. You are responsible for any missing or broken items. We do complete a checklist before and after each rental. If any of the above items are not completed, you will be charged part or all of your security deposit, plus additional damages.

Overall it is our intent that you would have a great time and enjoy yourself. We understand not everyone is perfect, and things get missed time from time, but please respect the property and personal items within the cottage.

I have read and agree to what is expected of our party during our stay and will abide by it and be held responsible as the renter.
